{"id":612,"date":"2018-08-23T13:32:03","date_gmt":"2018-08-23T13:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grexblog.com\/?p=612"},"modified":"2018-08-23T13:32:03","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T13:32:03","slug":"current-snapshot-of-goals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grexblog.com\/?p=612","title":{"rendered":"Current snapshot of goals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While talking to Mentor # 1 yesterday I had an opportunity to describe the composition project I would like to work on this year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A suite of compositions<\/li>\n<li>Inspired by the moods \/ virtual environments of a video game<\/li>\n<li>The game is called &#8220;No Man&#8217;s Sky&#8221; and is a planet exploration game<\/li>\n<li>In the original version of the game, the player is a solitary space traveler<\/li>\n<li>Recently the game was updated to include multiple players<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;which meant that the previous universe was re-written (destroyed)<\/li>\n<li>I now have a limited amount of footage to draw from<\/li>\n<li>This puts helpful limits on the project.<\/li>\n<li>Create 12 themes expressing different kinds of planets and situations<\/li>\n<li>ex. dangerous planet, beautiful planet, travel theme, farewell theme<\/li>\n<li>Use these themes (motifs) as a basis for compositions<\/li>\n<li>Compositions to include examples of things I&#8217;m learning about<\/li>\n<li>such as monophony, polyphony, chamber group, orchestra<\/li>\n<li>Write the manuscript notation of each composition (in Finale)<\/li>\n<li>Record\u00a0 and mix each composition using electronic instruments<\/li>\n<li>Also record in &#8220;stem&#8221; form (keeping individual tracks separate)<\/li>\n<li>This is a technique for video game soundtracks and film scores<\/li>\n<li>NEXT year, record live instruments and voices?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While talking to Mentor # 1 yesterday I had an opportunity to describe the composition project I would like to work on this year.
