It&#8217;s a Belgian film, a surreal comedy with beautiful music.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Brand New Testament | Lotterywest Festival Films\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/w5QNKcwe_lM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One of the strangest and most beautiful parts of the movie is when a lonely young girl has a dream about the hand that she lost in an accident years ago.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Brand New Testament - Dream Scene\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lpno5nqMc-Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The music used here is &#8220;Lascia ch&#8217;io pianga&#8221; from Handel&#8217;s opera &#8220;Rinaldo&#8221;. The lyrics mean &#8220;Let me weep over my cruel fate, and let me sigh for liberty. May sorrow shatter these chains for my torments, just out of pity&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I found another version of this aria by a French soprano named Patricia Petibon&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HAENDEL : Lascia ch&#039;io pianga, par Patricia Petibon.\" width=\"584\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Z5WUO7hsgCA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;which made me curious about her. Yes, she really does have red hair! Here she is singing the Queen of the Night aria from Mozart&#8217;s &#8220;The Magic Flute&#8221;. This version features soprano Diana Damrau.
